Q. I have never danced Balboa before. Can I participate? A. We apologize, but it is difficult to participate if you have no prior Balboa experience. To safely enjoy social dancing at the festival, completing at least a beginner's course at a local dance club is essential. We highly recommend discovering the charm of Balboa through dance lessons before our upcoming June event!
Q. Can beginners participate? A. Yes, beginners are more than welcome to join the parties! However, please note that the 8-hour workshop led by Javi & Lucia is tailored for 'Inter-Advanced' level dancers and above. Therefore, the workshops are best suited for those who have been consistently taking lessons and actively social dancing for at least one year.
Q. I missed the registration period. Can I buy passes at the door? A. Only Day Party Passes can be purchased at the door. Full Weekend Passes, Combo Passes, and Full Party Passes are exclusively available during the pre-registration periods (Tier 1 in April, Tier 2 in May), so we strongly encourage early registration.
Q. What are the payment methods? A. Please transfer your payment to the designated bank account provided in the registration form (Google Form). To ensure quick payment verification, you must make the transfer using the exact same 'Real Name' or 'Nickname' you entered on your form.
Q. I only bought a party pass. Can I add workshops later? A. Yes, you can! 2-day or 1-day pass holders can purchase Saturday or Sunday workshops (75 USD each) or a Weekend Set (125 USD) as optional add-ons. If you wish to add them, please re-submit the form and transfer the workshop fee, or contact the organizers directly.
Q. I cannot attend the event due to personal reasons. Can I get a refund or transfer my pass? A. A full refund (100%) is available until April 30, and a partial refund (50%) is available until May 20. From May 21 onwards, refunds are strictly unavailable for any reason. However, you may transfer your pass to someone of the same role (Leader/Follower) until midnight on May 31. (Please note that the financial transaction for the transfer must be handled directly between the parties involved.)
Q. I want to compete in the Mix & Match. Do I need a partner? A. No, the Mix & Match is an individually registered competition! During the preliminaries, you will rotate partners for every song. In the finals, you will compete with a random partner assigned by a random draw.
Q. I started dancing Balboa in January 2024. Can I enter the Rookie division? A. The Rookie division is strictly for dancers with '2 years of experience or less' who started after June 2024. Therefore, you will need to register for the Amateur or Open division.
Q. Can I register for the Rookie, Amateur, and Open divisions simultaneously in the Mix & Match? A. Yes, you can register for multiple divisions! While lower-level participants can challenge higher levels (like Open), the reverse is not permitted. Please thoroughly check the 'eligibility restrictions' regarding experience criteria and past major competition placements before registering.
Q. My partner got injured after we registered for the competition and cannot compete. Can I get a refund? A. Competition entry fees cannot be transferred to another person under any circumstances due to preliminary heat balancing and grouping. The standard period-based refund policy for passes also applies to competition fees. If you are in the no-refund period, a 'partner change' is exceptionally allowed until May 31, but only with prior approval from the organizers.
Q. Is there a dress code? A. Yes! To make the parties even more fun, we have prepared different themed dress codes for each of the 3 days. Detailed daily dress codes will be announced later on our official website and social media, so stay tuned!
Q. Can I take photos or videos during the social parties? A. Yes, personal filming is allowed! However, please be mindful not to obstruct the paths of other dancers on the floor. Also, please note that official staff will be filming throughout the event, and this footage may be used for future promotional materials.
Q. Can I bring outside food or drinks? A. Yes, outside food and drinks are allowed. However, to protect our premium sprung dance floor and ensure everyone's safety (preventing slips), please be exceptionally careful not to spill anything. To maintain a clean environment, we highly recommend using containers with lids or tumblers for your drinks.
Q. Where can I send my inquiries? A. For any event-related questions, please contact the official Pulse in Seoul email or send a Direct Message (DM) to our official social media channels (Instagram/Facebook). We will check and respond to you as quickly as possible.
